Meet Pete Ford-2008 Irish Way Counselor

Hey everybody! My name is Pete Ford and I am one of the Irish Way Counselors this summer. I am twenty-two years old and I just finished college with honors with a degree in English. I am originally from Pennsylvania and have just moved back from Chatham, NJ. I grew up in a family of Irish dancers and competed for several years before hanging up my kilt. My dancing technique of late has been refered to as "foolish," "laughable," "embarrassingly heartfelt." I play a whole bunch of instruments, but I am primarily a banjo and guitar player. I will be teaching a workshop on Irish-American music and hopefully get some creative writing activities in there too. I went on the program in 2002 and cried when I got back to the states. I probably don't need to bring that up. Well, I cannot wait to meet everybody because this is going to be an amazing trip.

Meet Aileen Hayes-2008 Irish Way Counselor

Hi! My name is Aileen! I am 23 and graduated in 2007 from The Catholic University of America in Washington DC with a degree in Social Work. I am currently working on my Masters in Social Work at the very same University. I have a great love for service and for my Irish heritage and am so excited that the two will be able to come together while I am a counselor on the Irish Way. I attended the Irish Way in 2001 when I was 16 and had the time of my life. After that, my cousins went and so did my little sister and it changed all of our lives in so many positive ways! I cannot wait to work with all the students going on the Irish Way and to share this life changing experience with them, through their eyes!

Meet Norah Mallaney-2008 Irish Way Counselor

I am a recent graduate of the University of Richmond where I studied International Studies and Leadership Studies. While in college, I served on student government, taught middle school in Washington, DC, and spent a semester abroad in South Africa. I love hiking, playing tennis and reading. In 2003, I was a student on the Irish Way and I can't wait to be part of the program again! This time around, I'm excited to spend time in Killarney and to travel back to the Aran Islands -one of the most beautiful places on earth!
